Domestic Treatment

We are committed to providing the most effective and rapid solution to your bedbug problem and have developed advanced protocols and methodologies taking into account the experience obtained by working exclusively on bed bugs for many years. You should be aware from the start that there is not always an  instantaneous solution to this problem and the duration of an infestation is related to the extent to which a property is infested.

Our aim is to remove the infestation as quickly as possible and light and early-stage cases have been cleared within hours with non chemical processes , however 98% of the cases we chemically treat are cleared within two treatments as long as the detailed instructions are followed significantly above industry average.

We have developed treatment plans which are designed to ensure a rapid reduction in activity, often taking properties from 50+ bites per night to a few in a matter of days. To the best of our knowledge this is a unique service that we provide and experience has indicated that it is essential to treat each infestation as a unique situation. It is not unusual for a problem to be resolved after just one treatment, although we have a 60% success rate in removing light to medium infestations in 1 application we always make available two treatments visits for chemically treated properties to take account of the egg hatching time, our non chemical treated can be more successful in single treatment eradication so long as a source of bedbugs is not reintroduced to the property.

We are conducting ongoing trials of our monitoring system for the early detection of bedbugs and have been granted patents on these processes and products. Some of this technology is exclusive to Bed bugs limited and we hope will become the industry standard for screening and early detection as well as aiding rapid removal via monitor replacement.

Our vehicles are not marked so no-one is likely to know who is arriving at your property, when asked by porters, neighbours or inquisitive people we usually explain that we are maintenance contractors coming to asses a job. In most cases we carry a single bag concealing all our tools and equipment and occasionally a vacuum cleaner.

We aim to be on site within 30 minutes of your allocated appointment time which are usually 10am, 12am, 2pm or 4pm Monday to Friday. Cases outside of London can only be accommodated in afternoon appointments due to travel times.  Our clients have the assurance that comes from dealing with an established company with confirmable premises and not someone jumping on what they see as the bedbug bandwagon.

Assessment / Inspection

No treatment will commence until a full assessment of the extent of infestation has been conducted. This will enable our technician to suggest the most appropriate course of treatment. Potentially infested rooms generally include all bedrooms, lounges and areas where people spend long periods of time in relatively stationary positions.

We always confirm the infestation as bedbugs prior to treatment, this is done visually in the case of live samples, cast skins and eggs, in the case of faecal traces these are always confirmed using a faecal trace confirmation kit (which we helped to develop and optimise for bedbug work).  This simple colour change swab test helps confirm what we think visually and reinforces the science behind how we work as a company.  Although we again hope that this technology becomes industry standard we are proud to bring it to our customers as another bed bugs limited global first.  Details on this test can bee seen here in our advanced educational section.

There are different degrees of infestation from light causing 1 or 2 bites a week through to heavy infestations where in excess of 50 bites per night are being reported.  In the majority of cases (99%) it is not necessary to dispose of any furniture prior to treatment and furniture should only be removed from the property following a specific protocol to avoid spreading the infestation throughout the house. If you choose to have us conduct the treatment a timetable will be drawn up detailing the treatment course and any necessary advance preparations, in most cases time permitting we can start treatment during the first visit.

Prior to treatment the technician conducting the work will run through the health and safety implications of the treatment and will answer any questions that you have.

Treatment

We will conduct all pre treatment preparation on your behalf using experienced technicians ensuring that all steps are taken to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment. Unfortunately we will not be able to tell you what this will entail until we have inspected the areas.  Customers also have preferential access to our decontamination facility in Battersea to deal with infected items from within your home.

This can be a time consuming process but we have found that time spent at this stage is critical to ensuring a rapid reduction in activity and bite minimisation. Experience allows us to asses the situation at your property rapidly and because we only deal with bedbug related issues there is a high probability that we have seen this type of situation before in one of the 22,000+ properties we have treated.

Procedures manuals

All treatment programs are supported with full instruction manuals which cover all aspects of bed bug infestations, education and how to avoid future exposure.  In short it is the culmination of our experience in dealing with over 22,000 infestations in domestic and commercial settings.  We don’t simply leave you a single A4 sheet or a postcard with a few instructions we want to make sure you are best equipped and informed as to what needs to be done to help us eradicate this problem in the shortest possible time.  

Bite minimization advice

Following treatment our technicians will advise you of the best strategy to minimize bites and will identify any steps which you can take clear up the problem sooner. As with all chemical based treatments it will be necessary to vacate the treated rooms for a minimum of 2 hours for your own health and safety. For treatment to be successful the rooms must be reoccupied that night, this may result in a continued risk of being bitten which is why we emphasise the best ways to avoid bites.  In the case of green treatment methods the room can be immediately occupied.

Costs

Our fees for work in inner London postcodes is around £150 (for chemical treatment) offering exceptional value for money given the high standard of service we offer.  Non chemical / green treatment is charged on an hourly rate basis and although it may be slightly more expensive than the chemical option  it reflects the increased level of work that is needed and the immediate benefits that people see from this service.

The cost for chemical based treatment is calculated on the number of infected rooms being treated and covers the cost of both treatment visits if required. We are happy to assess a property and provide a quote and report, the fee for which can be discussed via email or on the phone. Evening, weekend and early morning treatments are sometimes possible but will incur a call out charge to cover the antisocial working times they usually require 48 hours notice. We feel that our service is competitive for the level of work and detail we undertake, although there are cheaper services out there we take pride in our work and are not prepared to compete on price alone particularly when better known companies and local authorities often charge more for a lower level of service with inexperienced staff.

What we don't do

From time to time people request a more budget solution from us - they request that we spray a little and charge them less.  We have found that in cases of bedbugs this is a false economy that we would not wish on anyone and the faster you can remove the problem the quicker your life can return to normal. If we simply ran into a room, sprayed for 10 minutes and left you with little or no support, we wouldn't feel that we had done the best possible job for you.

We are not operating on the principle that the faster we do the job the more jobs we can do in a day and the more money we can make.  Again we have found this to be a false economy - our work can take anywhere from 30 minutes per room to 5 hours in an extreme case for a first visit. A room for us takes as long as is required to do the best possible job.

We do not share our methodologies with anyone else without insisting that they follow our treatment guidelines and information pack to the letter, as such any claims of working to our methodology can be verified by us on the phone but in short if they have not been booked through our office they are not using our latest and most efficient techniques and in some cases exposing your family to dangerous working practices with unqualified and uninsured operators.

We do not supply home use or amateur use products because we have not found them to be effective.  In many cases such as the use of aerosol and “fogger” based products they can actually spread the infestation and make it harder to deal with.  In cases where extensive self treatment has occurred or where multiple other service providers have attempted to resolve the issue we insist on full disclosure or we may refuse to take on the case.

As they are customised to your property and specific circumstances you will know what needs to be done on key dates to help your life back to normal.  We even cover some of the psychological aspects of dealing with an infestation, invaluable advice established by dealing with thousands of people suffering from bed bugs and helping them to get their lives back to normal.

Where possible we will try to identify the source of the infestation to ensure that a repeat outbreak is unlikely through education and understanding the issue.

Once the property has been assessed your technician will be able to advise you which of our treatment options is the most appropriate given the circumstances of your infestation.

Chemical Based Treatment

Non Chemical Treatment

Our ground breaking integrated pest management strategy is carried out with a professional grade insecticide which has been specially selected for its mode of action and safety profile. It is licensed for use only by a trained specialist and is not available for purchase without a recognised certification in pest control. The safety data sheet is supplied as part of the treatment information pack that we leave you detailing all the activities which you must follow to assist in the treatment methodology.

This service comprises of:

• Immediate limitation of the infestation
• All the consumables you need to help with decontamination of the infested room
• Preferential pricing on monitors for non treated rooms

Rooms can be reoccupied after 2 - 3 hours when the treatment has dried.

This service is charged on a per treated room basis for all treatment and inspection visits.

Since 2011 we have offered a non chemical service to hotels and commercial properties which can have the significant advantage of immediate resolution of light to medium infestations  of bedbugs in one visit.  Although it is our preferred treatment option for all cases it is sometimes just not feasible (such as advanced multi room infestations of cases where the infestation has been diffused through aerosol use or if the neighbour is a source).

This service comprises of three elements:

• A technology to immediate eradicate bedbugs and their eggs
• A residual protection with an organic non chemical product
• Monitoring using our Passive+ technology

Rooms can even be occupied during treatment and you can sleep safe in the knowledge that no chemicals have ben used in this process.

This service is charged on an hourly rate basis for all treatment and inspection visits.

If the problem does not relate to bedbugs we will do everything in our power to identify what it is and suggest appropriate steps for eradication.    In such cases we will make sure that you are educated about the signs of bedbugs to ensure that you have every chance of avoiding them in the future.
